I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM WASHINGTON DOL ABOUT MY
VEHICLE INFORMATION BEING CHECKED - WHAT DOES
THAT MEAN?
It is perfectly legal for us to check the ownership of vehicle's in the state of Washington if it is
in connection with a legal investigation or court proceeding. If you received a letter it means
we did in fact check ownership of your vehicle. This could be for several reasons;
1. One of our primary investigative functions is fugitive recovery. As part of that investigation
we will check assets for co-signers of bail bonds and defendants on bond who may have
skipped court. We do this to locate property and/or check for current addresses. If you are the
co-signer on a bond for someone who has failed to appear your best option is to call the
bondsman or call our office to assist in the investigation. This will save YOU money and
possibly keep you from losing your property.
2. We may be attempting to serve you legal court paperwork; we need to verify a current
address for you to make service.
3. There may be some other type of on-going investigation.
If we do not contact you after you receive a letter it would normally mean you are not the
person involved or someone we are looking for. Why would you get a letter then? Because
many people have the same names and it is possible your name matches someone we are
looking for.
If you still have questions regarding this matter feel free to call our office.
